Debt Negotiation Tactics

Being in debt might be a thing people can be ashamed of. This should not work like this, because nowadays getting a loan and this way becoming debtors is elemental for most of us. We need money in order to manage our lives, to get what we need, to live a proper life, we dreamed of. Loans and debt vary from people to people; the problem is not getting them, but managing to handle our debts. There are cases when we become unable to refund our actual debt, we cannot handle it. What do we have to do in these cases? Which are those debt negotiation tactics that can help us consolidate them?

First of all you have to think. Too sudden and fast actions do not lead to something good. Creditors are skeptics when talking about money, their money. They need to trust you in order to talk with you about financial issues. Being polite and humble, talking about the concrete issue always helps. They do not need to hear about fairytales, long stories; they need facts. You are only a source of income for them, so wining on the phone about your troubles and about reasons why you cannot refund the amount of the debt is unnecessary. You have to negotiate well, stick to the facts and offer some backup in exchange for their understanding and assistance.

Another negotiation tactic is preparing a compromise in advance, and include it into a letter for the creditors.  You can pass this letter to your attorney to get professional debt consolidation advice. You have to be careful and include dates and offers that are beneficial for both sides. The letter should contain an explanation for your request and an offer to pay off 70-80 % of the owed amount.

A last solution, if none of your tactics and offers succeeds to persuade creditors is filling for bankruptcy, especially Chapter 7. This procedure has high chances; if it is filled successfully your unsecured loaners may not get any further money from you. This procedure must be your last option being quite unethical and a step like this would have a result for you to be included on the creditors black list and their trust in you will be lost.

As you can see, there are different tactics for debt negotiation; you just have to choose wisely from them and not to make sudden and untaught moves.
